Deck Staining

Preparation:

  • We move any furniture, planters, grill, etc to a safe place away from work area

  • Thoroughly pressure wash and scrap any loose paint

  • Allow the deck to sit a minimum of one day, weather depending, in order to thoroughly dry out

* if you’re deck has a patio underneath, we will cover everything with drop cloths to protect during the staining process

Process:

  • Sanding: we use an electric sander to go over handrails and rough areas of deck boards

  • Board Replacement: should there be any rotted boards that need to be replaced, we will include that into the estimate

  • Staining Product: we source this from Trio Paint (local company) or Sherwin Williams; they carry Storm, Cabbott and Sikkens

  • Staining Process: we will do one coat of solid oil based stain with one topcoat of acrylic; this is a great system! We have had good feedback on this process

  • Application: done by hand using a brush to ensure that the stain is worked into the grain and any cracks

Additional Notes:

  • We recommend allowing a full 24 hours for the deck to dry before using after the application has been complete
